Strada Stretta – Souvenir

The launch of Splendid Lounge supported by Fondazzjoni Temi Zammit. April 2011

” Beauty is ever to the lonely mind a shadow fleeting; she is never plain. She is a visitor who leaves behind the gift of grief, the souvenir of pain.”
-Christopher Morley

74, Splendid in Strada Stretta. Valletta. It was the city’s red light district at the time when Malta was a British naval base. I used a furniture that was found in the same building which looked like a typical furniture that is used to display souvenirs.

The foetuses as souvenirs hit/shocked many viewers in various ways. Some found them intriguing and got curious, touched them and questioned if they were real while someone even wrote on the news paper that they “…just don’t have the stomach for such displays”

All there was left was a souvenir from their love, the one on display.
